Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade Junior Baritone

FRENCH LICK, Ind. - This year, the Brigade’s baritones are a relatively young section with three of our five members still in Jr. High. The members include Jacob C., Jacob S., Noah H., Billy W., and myself, Morgan E.

The entire section is strong this year and we have some of the best players I have seen in awhile. Everybody plays at least some part in the show and most play all of it. Our 8th graders, Jacob and Jacob, are the Terrible Two-some. Together they cause enough trouble for the whole band, but when it comes down to it, they are both great guys.

Jacob S. was diagnosed with a knee disease early in the year and has been out for most of the season. Despite not being able to perform, he still works hard, showing up to every practice, and playing on the sidelines. He is an inspiration to us all and we cannot wait to see what he is capable of next year.

Jacob C. is one of our strongest players. He plays his heart out every time we perform even if he is a little loud sometimes. He has improved tremendously just in the past year and I know he will be great player and leader in the future.

Noah H. is our rookie this year, but you would never know it from the way he marches. Despite the fact that he is young, he has really stepped up to plate this year. He marches great and even plays most of the show! I give him a hard time sometimes because he is my brother, but I am proud of what he has accomplished this year.

Billy W. is our one and only senior, but he is much more than that. He has become a big brother to us all and taught things we will never forget (well, some things we want to forget but cannot). He has become a fantastic marcher and an even better person in the years he has been in band. I only hope I can fill his shoes next year when he graduates. Good Luck in life Billy!

And then there’s me, the only girl in the section. What can I say, except that these guys have become my brothers, even if I do feel like their mother sometimes. I keep them under control (sort of) and they make sure I have a good time. We are a close section and have become more like a family than I would have thought possible. I cannot wait to see what we can do the rest of this season and next.
