FRENCH LICK, Ind. - This year, the band director for the Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade, Luke Aylsworth, has added two great influences to the direction of the band. He has made two seniors, Kyle Apple and Zeke Harger, Horn Sergeants. This status is the first, in many years, to be assigned to anyone in the Brigade and the pair have taken the role with great honor.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Blackhawk Brigade may be in the off season, but that does not mean things are moving at a slower pace.  This week alone the band will be performing at three basketball games and at the second annual Orleans Pep Band Invitational.

INDIANAPOLIS - It took about 20 seconds and 875 explosive devices to reduce a landmark piece of the Indianapolis skyline to a broken pile of rubble. About 9:35 a.m. Saturday, demolition experts imploded the 24-year-old RCA Dome in Downtown Indianapolis, leaving a massive ring of debris.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. - Being in the Springs Valley Color Guard this season has been a great learning experience when it comes down to teamwork and friendship. So far, this is one of the best seasons for the guard. With all the dedication and effort, this year’s color guard is undefeated. This year’s members consist of 14 outstanding girls.

Our flute rookie this year is Keesha and she’s been a wonderful asset to the section. She has become quite the marcher over these few months and has added another smile to the bunch.

BEDFORD, Ind. –The three marching bands from Orange County will go through another elimination round Saturday. The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade, the Orleans Bulldog Regiment and the Pride of Paoli will compete for three of 10 slots among the 20 Indiana State School Music Association Class D bands. The competition, the new ISSMA Semi-State, will take place at Franklin Community High School and will determine who moves onto the state finals Nov. 1.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - It was the closest of victories at the 2008 Drum Corps International World Championship Finals in Bloomington, Ind. By only 0.025 points, Phantom Regiment passed the Blue Devils to take the gold medal and their second Championship title. Phantom Regiment (98.125) moved forward one placement from Quarterfinals to Semifinals, and from Semifinals to Finals in their quest for the Championship trophy.
