FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Blackhawk Brigade may be in the off season, but that does not mean things are moving at a slower pace.  This week alone the band will be performing at three basketball games and at the second annual Orleans Pep Band Invitational.

INDIANAPOLIS - It took about 20 seconds and 875 explosive devices to reduce a landmark piece of the Indianapolis skyline to a broken pile of rubble. About 9:35 a.m. Saturday, demolition experts imploded the 24-year-old RCA Dome in Downtown Indianapolis, leaving a massive ring of debris.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. - Being in the Springs Valley Color Guard this season has been a great learning experience when it comes down to teamwork and friendship. So far, this is one of the best seasons for the guard. With all the dedication and effort, this year’s color guard is undefeated. This year’s members consist of 14 outstanding girls.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Family, friends, staff, and members of the Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade gathered on November 17 to celebrate the 2008 marching season.  The annual banquet was held in the Clifton Ballroom at the French Lick Springs Resort.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. - The flute section this season consists of Erica L., Kyra M., Rachael W., Stephanie B., and Keesha M.. Our flute rookie this year is Keesha and she’s been a wonderful asset to the section. She has become quite the marcher over these few months and has added another smile to the bunch.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade ended their 2008 season with a fifth place finish at the ISSMA State Finals on Saturday.

INDIANAPOLIS - Marching bands from Orange County brought home smiles from the Indiana State School Music Association marching band state finals Saturday.

FRANKLIN, Ind. –The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade will participate in their 19th ISSMA State Finals this weekend.  Paoli, Forest Park, and seven other statewide Class D bands will join the Brigade vying for the state crown on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

FRANKLIN, Ind. –All three Orange County marching bands made it to the semi-state round Saturday night. But only two will go to the last hurrah at state finals this weekend.

BEDFORD, Ind. –The three marching bands from Orange County will go through another elimination round Saturday. The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade, the Orleans Bulldog Regiment and the Pride of Paoli will compete for three of 10 slots among the 20 Indiana State School Music Association Class D bands. The competition, the new ISSMA Semi-State, will take place at Franklin Community High School and will determine who moves onto the state finals Nov. 1.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – This past Saturday, the Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade received a Gold Rating and placed in the top ten in the ISSMA South Regional, advancing them to the Class D Semi-State Saturday in Franklin.

BEDFORD, Ind. - Excitement is brewing in Orange County as three marching bands prepare for the regional competition Saturday.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Saturday marks the second round of ISSMA State competition action. Area bands will be traveling to Jeffersonville for the ISSMA South Regional.

ROCKPORT, Ind. – In the final regular season contest of the year, the Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade won the Class “D” competition at the South Spencer Invitational on Saturday night.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade will end the regular season this weekend at South Spencer in a re-match of last week’s District.

JASPER, Ind. – Springs Valley once again performed in true Blackhawk Brigade fashion and wowed the crowd and judges.  The Brigade captured their 26th ISSMA District Gold at Alumni Stadium on Saturday.

JASPER — All three Orange County marching bands will perform at the regional competition in Jeffersonville on Oct. 18, after earning gold at this weekend’s Indiana State School Music Association district competition in Jasper.

INDIANAPOLIS - Hundreds of people pressed against office windows, stood on street corners and gathered on the steps of Lucas Oil Stadium today to watch the marshmallow-like roof of the RCA Dome sink from the Indianapolis skyline.

PAOLI, Ind. – It did not take long to recognize who was taking the field Saturday night at Paoli.  The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade “amazed” the crowd and won first place in Class 3A.

INDIANAPOLIS – The remnants of Hurricane Ike did not detour the Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade in Indianapolis this weekend as they won the Class D competition at the Music in Motion Festival.

The county’s three public school corporations all boast troupes that have made the top in Class D at least two times since 1998 — most notably the Pride of Paoli, which took the No. 1 spot six times.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade has spent the last eight weeks preparing their 2008 show entitled “Puzzled & aMAZEd.”  With the arrival of the first football game, the Brigade plans for their array of performances, beginning Friday night at the Brown County football game.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - It was the closest of victories at the 2008 Drum Corps International World Championship Finals in Bloomington, Ind. By only 0.025 points, Phantom Regiment passed the Blue Devils to take the gold medal and their second Championship title. Phantom Regiment (98.125) moved forward one placement from Quarterfinals to Semifinals, and from Semifinals to Finals in their quest for the Championship trophy.

FRENCH LICK, Ind. – Springs Valley High School marching band Director Luke Aylsworth received approval to host the first marching band festival at Springs Valley on Sepember 6 at the football stadium.
